本世纪四十年代初,烤烟便漂洋过海,在楚雄彝州这块肥沃的土地上落户繁衍。由于得天独厚的气候和土壤条件,彝州烤烟的高品质也渐为世人所知晓。 1980年初,经贸部、国家计委、进出口委员会和供销总社联合行文,批准在楚雄州建立烤烟出口基地。随即,美国、西德的烟草商到楚雄考察、洽谈,当年出口烟叶417.1吨。楚雄烟叶开始进入国际市场。但因产前投入及科技水平等影响,至九十年代初,出口量在1500吨徘徊不前。
In the early 1940s, flue-cured tobacco landed across the ocean and settled on the fertile land of Chuzhou. Due to the unique climate and soil conditions, the high quality of flue-cured tobacco in Quzhou has gradually become known to the world. In early 1980, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, the State Planning Commission, the Import and Export Committee, and the Supply and Marketing Federation jointly drafted and approved the establishment of a flue-cured tobacco export base in Chuxiong Prefecture. Immediately, tobacco dealers from the United States and West Germany went to Chuxiong to inspect and negotiate, and exported 417.1 tons of tobacco that year. Chuxiong Tobacco began to enter the international market. However, due to the impact of pre-production investment and technology, the export volume was stricken by 1,500 tons in the early 1990s.
