According to the theoretical framework of Halliday’s system functional grammar in interpersonal function, this paper analyzes the interpersonal meaning from the modalities of tone and modality by using English translation of Shenzhouxing value-added card manual as a corpus, and discusses the social roles played by the speaker and receiver in the communication process And its implied cultural significance.
