This essay starts with the construction of the physical, psychological and sexual spaces of the characters in “The Beetle of the Beetles” in Erdelic and probes into the ethical dimension that the author imposed on the space writing mode. The analysis holds that the practice of the characters in the novels is the carrier of identity construction. Based on the collectivism and holism in the Indian culture, Erdrich possesses a unique ethical dimension for the writing of the space. The article points out that under the perspective of this dimension, the identity construction of the characters in the novel has very different results and reflects the ethical orientation of the Indian cultural characteristics. This mode of creation is an innovative move in contemporary Indian literature.
