金伯利岩不仅是窥探地幔深部各种科学问题的重要岩石,也因其携带了大部分大颗粒金刚石而受到各类专家学者的重视。本文通过对金伯利岩的岩性特征、地球化学特征、形成环境特征进行概述总结,认为对金伯利岩的研究有从宏观的岩石矿物组成向微观的地球化学方向深入发展的巨大趋势,金伯利岩虽然是一种成分复杂的混杂岩,但所含主量元素之间、微量元素之间的地球化学行为必然有更多规律可循;再提出有意义的研究问题,即金刚石的品位与金伯利岩的规模之间的关系是什么?是否可通过侵位时间、更多微量元素的含量特征来判断金伯利岩中金刚石品位?更系统全面的研究值得被开展。
