2001年初,经过北京市文物研究所、西城区文物部门联合清理,在西黄城根明清皇城城墙遗址处,除发现一段明清皇城墙基础外,还清理出一处明代涵洞及沟渠。考古人员在城墙转角北侧3.75米处城墙基础下,发现一个通水涵洞及与之对应的砖砌沟渠。其中位于城墙基础西侧的一段沟渠保存完好,涵洞两壁与沟渠连成一体,
In early 2001, after Beijing Cultural Relics Research Institute and Xicheng District Cultural Relics Department jointly cleaned up, at the site of the Huangcheng City Wall in the Ming and Qing Dynasties of Huangcheng City, a Ming dynasty imperial city wall foundation was found and a Ming dynasty culvert and ditch was cleared. Archeologists found a water-passing culvert and its corresponding brickwork under the wall of 3.75 meters north of the corner of the city wall. Among them, a section of ditch located on the west side of the foundation of the city wall is well preserved, and the two walls of the culvert are integrated with the ditch.
