The use of a permanent stainless steel cathode has become a commonly accepted technique in cathodic copper electrodeposition and electrolytic refining. As a developer of this technology, Isa Technology Corporation (IPT) has continuously improved this technology and maintained its lead over the years. Under pressure from the market to increase cathode copper production efficiency, IPT recognized the need to develop more efficient cathode plates. To meet the needs of the market, IPT has now developed a low-resistance cathode plate (Isa cathode BRTM). AISA cathode BRTM provides lower resistance by reducing the distance between the end of the copper plating and the solution line. Trials at the Townsville Aisa Electrolysis Refinery and a major electrowinning refinery in Chile confirmed the performance of the new cathode BRTM. The latest results show that the use of ISA cathode BRTM, can significantly reduce production costs.
