初识刘子微是1990年文化部在天津举办的全国京剧新剧目调演的舞台上,时年22岁的刘子微饰演新编远古题材戏《洪荒大裂变》中的女娇,戏的主要情节是写大禹治水的故事,女娇是大禹的妻子。这是一出探索性剧目,舞台样式与传统剧目有相当大的变化,起了一些争议。其时,忝列评委的笔者同许多观众和专家一起给予了它充分肯定,在优秀剧目奖之外单设了一个优秀探索剧目奖
