Objective To investigate the significance of detecting HbA1c and glycated albumin (GA) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) complicated with vascular diseases. Methods Forty-two patients with T2DM were enrolled in the study. Fifty-two patients with macrovascular complications (group A1), 14 patients with macrovascular complications (group A2), and 63 patients without combined vascular disease (group B). Another 66 healthy controls were control group (C). Four groups of HbA1c, GA levels were detected. Results The levels of HbA1c and GA in group A1, group A2 and group B were significantly higher than those in group C (P <0.01). However, the levels of HbA1c and GA in group A1 and A2 were not significantly different from those in group B (P> 0.05) The levels of HbA1c and GA were not significantly different from those in A2 group (P> 0.05). Conclusion The detection of HbA1c and GA is of little significance in the diagnosis of T2DM complicated with vascular disease.
