For historical reasons, the recognition and acceptance of melody in our nation’s general awareness are both stronger. It seems that melody is the most important piece of music, and other musical elements are often overlooked. This is a biased understanding. In fact, in modern Western music theory, melody and harmony have always been an indivisible whole. It is seldom seen in creative works that melodies and harmony are made by many people. The Chinese musical works, and even some masterpieces handed down, the melody and harmony part is not a single creation. We should view the work and position of the melody and harmony creators in the works in a scientific and fair manner without discrimination. This essay elaborates on the author’s understanding of the melody and its enlightenment on how the music audiences establish the correct musical concept and how to treat the music creation. The author of this article is a famous composer in China. His “Long March Song”, co-authored with Chengeng, Shengmao and Tanghe, has been listed into the twentieth century Chinese music classic. Now, Mr. Lee, who is nearly eighty years old, is healthy and energetic. He is still learning daily, learning to embellish, writing to work, and writing. It is admirable.
