当中国从计划经济转向社会主义市场经济的时候,新闻界面临着历史性转折的严峻挑战。适应并及时、准确地反映这个历史的转折,新闻界责无旁贷。能不能很好地承担起这一重任,取决于自身是否适应这个转折的变革。而变革首先要突破旧的传统观念的束缚。
When China shifted from a planned economy to a socialist market economy, the press faced the grim challenge of a historic turning point. To adapt and timely and accurately reflect this turning point in history, the press is duty-bound. Whether or not we can shoulder this responsibility well depends on whether we are adapting to this turning point. The change must first break the shackles of the old traditional values.
