The building is located in Chamberí in the heart of Madrid. Just a few years ago, it was home to the Vallehermoso stadium complex. Built in the 1950s, the building includes a locally renowned stadium and many ancillary sports facilities. It was closed to the public in 2007 and was demolished in 2008. Since then, City Hall has started planning a new sports center, followed by the construction of a stadium. Vallehermoso Sports Center will begin construction in 2012. It will be in a modest architectural expression, sitting in the city and blending with the city to create a meeting point and a center of activity.
