传统的合理性是麦金太尔的道德哲学和政治哲学中一个需要加以说明的论题。麦金太尔认为,在各种互竞传统之间存在合理性选择的可能,而移情想象力则是各种互竞传统间合理性选择的有效理解途径。面对传统的认识论危机,移情想象力为传统的合理性辩护提供了方法。它通过一种传统的信奉者想象性地将自身置于对方传统中,从对方传统自身去理解传统;在承认对方传统的真理性基础上,重构自身传统,从而使自身传统获得合理性进步。而有关移情想象力是一种自由主义美德的判断,则不能成为对麦金太尔自由主义者身份确证的可信依据。
The traditional rationality is one topic that needs to be clarified in Macintyre’s moral philosophy and political philosophy. MacIntyre argues that there is a possibility of a plausible choice between competing traditions and that empathetic imagination is an effective way to understand the plausible choices between competing traditions. In the face of the traditional crisis of epistemology, empathy imagination provides a method for the defense of traditional rationality. By a traditional believer imaginatively placing oneself in each other’s tradition and understanding each other’s traditions from one another’s traditions, reconstructing one’s own traditions on the basis of recognizing each other’s traditional truths so that one’s own traditions can be rationally improved . And the judgment that empathy empathy is a kind of liberal virtue can not be a credible basis for the identification of the libertarians of McIntire.
