那时以来我每月一次或两次和她约会。大概可以称约会吧,想不出更好的说法。她上东京郊外一所小而整洁、名声良好的女子大学。她的住处离学校走路不超过十分钟,沿着路边有清凉的水沟。她好像没交什么朋友,除了断断续续的话语以外,很少开口。因为她没有特别说什么,我也几乎没话讲。见面时,我们只是随便走走。但也并非没有一点进展。暑假过完时,她已十分自然地靠着我走路。我们并肩走着,上坡、下坡、过桥、过马路。我们不停地走,没有特别要去的地方,也没有特别要做的事。走了一阵
