Objective To investigate the effect of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) on brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) in patients with diastolic heart failure. Methods Polysomnography was performed on selected diastolic heart failure patients. According to the monitoring results, they were divided into OSAHS-free group, mild OSAHS group and moderate-severe OSAHS group. Respectively, the three groups of sleep breathing, heart shape and function, blood BNP values were compared. Results The systolic and diastolic indexes of echocardiography in three groups of patients did not show any significant difference. However, the BNP level of moderate-severe sleep disordered breathing group was higher than the other two groups, the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion Sleep-disordered breathing may further worsen cardiac function in patients with diastolic heart insufficiency and lead to changes in BNP in patients.
