《世界遗产评论》2003年10月 1996年由联合国教科文组织创办。刊物面向日益增长的对世界遗产和环境保护感兴趣的各界人士,以深度的文字,精美的图片使人们对人类至关重要的世界文化与自然遗产有一个真切的感受,该刊的创办是联合国教科文组织提倡世界遗产概念的一项重要的举措。在创刊号中,当时的联合国教科文组织世界遗产中心主任对世界遗产对人类社会的作用进行了形象的简述,他说：“世界遗产就是人类生存的自由,只有失去了它,人类才会感到它的弥足珍贵”。2003年10月的《世界遗产评论》的主题是世界遗产中的佛——主要介绍了印度和东南亚等国家与佛教及其艺术相关的世界文化遗产等,同时还介绍了2003年新入选世界遗产名录的遗产地。
