User LCD Driver with IIC Interface Motorola’s MOS Digital / Analog Integrated Circuit Division announced a low-power, low-cost, MC14LC5004 LCD driver. This was designed by the Hubble Center Silicon Valley Technical Working Group and Motorola’s Asia Pacific headquarters. The LCD driver with IIC interface is a 128-segment, four-channel multiplexed type that returns an acknowledgment bit to the sender for every eight bits received. It also has a “read mode” that allows the data sent to the device to be pulled through the IIC bus. The chip itself does not have a decoder in order to flexibly set the segment data format from the outside. For phones, digital pagers, digital testers, and other home appliances with small LCDs.
