When a white police officer on the Governor’s embankment in California ran indiscriminate against racist violence, the weekend edition of the New York Times published a manuscript sent by black police officer Don Jackson from Hawthorne, California, to cover the incident. The manuscript also revealed the attitude of the police to blacks. Jackson’s manuscript was published on January 23 this year. Only 11 days after the incident occurred, it was the earliest report on the incident. The editorial department modified the manuscript very little, writing to the editor-in-chief Wechsler’s weekend edition, Leslie Gilbert: “We are not willing to reduce the touching power of the original work.” Gilbert said issues involving public policy will remain for the weekend However, the focus of this edition will be more on lifestyle, culture, ethnic minorities, women, youth and more. He believes that important events in life occur throughout the country, “the most important and frequent.”
