在我国,毛白杨锈病的发展与病菌夏孢子的活动有密切联系。该菌夏孢子萌发的最低温度在0—7℃之间,最高在29℃,适温在15—20℃之间。超过25℃萌发率显著下降。萌发对湿度要求严格,只有与水液接触时才能萌发,否则,即使湿度接近饱和状态亦不萌发。夏孢子在适宜条件下2小时即开始萌 发,至13小时达于顶峰。0.1%的葡萄糖可提高同一温度下的萌发率,并提高其萌发的最高温度界限,使其在30℃仍能部分萌发。毛白杨汁液对夏孢子的萌发有明显的刺激作用,且夏孢子在毛白杨汁液中的萌发率较在不感病的北京杨和加杨等的汁液中显著为高(分别高12.4倍和12.7倍)。不同汁液对此菌夏孢子的萌发的影响可能与汁液中酚类物质的含量有关。病菌夏孢子对漂白粉和肥皂粉等物质非常敏感。夏孢子在浓度10PPM以上的漂白粉和浓于2000倍的肥皂粉(北京日用化工厂北海牌)水液中均不能萌发,且孢子在上述浓度的溶液中数小时即退色变白。
