论文对比研究了现代几种主要的语言观及其语言教学法观的演变和根源,简述了语言学与外语教学的辨证关系,重点探讨了二分法理论、系统功能语言学和认知语言学理论对外语教育的启示,最后强调,外语教学必须科学借鉴这些理论,充分考虑语言教育学科的内部因素,建立自己的理论体系和描写模式,设计出贯彻这些理论的方法和手段;外语教学应有自己的研究目标、研究内容和研究方法,任何相关学科(包括现代语言学理论)与它的关系只应该是“启发”的关系,而不是直接“应用”;语言教育应该是一门自主的学科。
