老西门街道位于上海市黄浦区的中部,辖区面积1.1 2平方千米,人口近10万。尽管地域面积不算大,人口不算多,街道拥有的“上海之最”却不胜枚举,如文庙是老城厢现存著名的名胜古迹之一,已有七百多年历史;梅溪小学为现今上海最古老的小学,已有二百五十余年历史。这些丰厚的资源和优势,奠定了老西门街道学风葳蕤、文化昌盛的基础。近年来,街道深入广泛地开展学习型社区创建工作,营造了一派求知求学、求进求新的良好氛围,社区教育取得了较好成果。这归功于老西门街道的准确定位。
