In the first half of the 1950s, Chinese Koreans canceled the use of Chinese characters and used only Korean. Under the historical conditions of that time, this measure raised the overall national cultural level and achieved remarkable results. More than 40 years of dedicated Korean practice shows that the abolition of Chinese characters has advantages and disadvantages, more harm than good. According to the experiment carried out in Yanbian Education Reform Office in recent years by using textbooks with Chinese characters, taking into account the needs of different cultural levels in society, it is unlikely that the system of Chinese writing in Korean should adopt a “one-size-fits-all” approach. As a common language in the society, Korean language can be used exclusively. However, it is necessary to carry out Chinese education in Korean language courses at all levels of ethnic schools, and a certain number of Chinese-Korean mixture of Chinese and Chinese characters should be adopted in all subjects.
