栖霞县(今为栖霞市),为山东半岛诸山之巅,历来号为胶东屋脊,金代才建起的一座小县城,也被一围苍翠的山峰包围着。早年的县官作诗有“蚕老沿街簇”的句子,说的是县衙一边也就是砍柴养蚕的农家——这地方就是这样的缺少繁华。但是,在清代康熙年间,一个原本与栖霞并不沾边的人,却在这里选中了建设家园的地点,这人姓牟,名国珑,官拜直隶南宫知县,祖籍湖北公安,两处都离栖霞不止千里之遥。后来的传说是他选的地方符合“左青龙右白虎前朱鸟后玄武”的风水原则。但只要留心,总不免要问,千里迢迢地他怎就到了这里?仔细想想却也不难作答。不定是一个什么机缘,使他来到栖霞,一眼就相中了这块地方,因为这地方正是他理想的去所。 Qixia County (now Qixia City) is the summit of the mountains in Shandong Peninsula.
