龙纹挂屏织绣捧寿“挂屏”在我国有着悠久的历史。早在宋代以前,就有用竹、玉、石雕刻的挂屏。清代乾隆年间,挂屏发展到了一个新的阶段。内务府设立造办处制造挂屏时,先要由宫廷中的名画师绘出图样,呈现给皇帝、皇后审阅,由皇帝决定哪一幅画可以作为挂屏的图样,而后由画师绘制在挂屏上,最后由艺人用各种材料雕刻或者织绣出来。这些挂屏做工精细,神态生动,造型新颖。用料非常讲究,边框用料为紫檀,挂钩为铜镀金,框心用料更为丰富,有象牙、玉石、珍珠、鹞
