刘道玉,1933年11月生,湖北枣阳人。著名教育家、化学家、社会活动家。1977年,刘道玉出任国家教育部党组成员兼高教司司长,对高教战线上的拨乱反正和恢复统一高考起到了很大的作用。1981起担任武汉大学校长。他首创并推行的一系列高教改革,如学分制、插班生制、导师制、转学制、主辅修制、双学位制等,今日已在全国各高校普遍实行。
Liu Daoyu, born in November 1933, Zaoyang, Hubei Province. Famous educator, chemist, social activist. In 1977, Liu Daoyu took the post of member of the party group and director of the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, and played a significant role in order to rectify the order in the higher education front and restore the unified entrance examination. 1981 served as president of Wuhan University. A series of reforms of higher education initiated and promoted by him, such as the credit system, transfer system, mentoring system, transfer system, major and minor education system and double degree system, have been widely practiced in all colleges and universities nationwide today.
