StorageTek (US Storage Technologies) unveiled two new products in its L-Series Automated Library family: the L40 and L80 tape libraries. StorageTek’s L40 and L80 tape libraries provide a high-capacity data management system in a distributed environment and provide an innovative way to upgrade from the L20 to the L80. Its plug and play solution is designed for distributed computing environments (Windows NT, Novell, Linux and Unix). With 4TB of storage capacity on the L40 and up to 8TB of storage capacity on the L80, the single-unit design takes up less physical space than a rack or cabinet storage solution.
