MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are short, approximately 19 to 22 nucleotides long non-coding RNAs that have the ability to regulate a wide variety of cells. The study found that miRNA is present in human blood, and miRNAs in the blood can become new biomarkers for diagnosing disease. Acute myocardial infarction is a disease with a high morbidity and mortality rate in the world. An early and correct diagnosis can ensure immediate reperfusion therapy to reduce mortality. Comparison of miRNA levels in the plasma of patients with acute myocardial infarction and healthy volunteers revealed that miRNAs were significantly elevated in patients with myocardial infarction.
