The news of the drafting of the human genome work is like opening the door to Alibaba’s treasure, and the life science market centered on genetic technology has attracted more and more gold diggers, including information technology (IT) companies. IBM’s development of the Blue Human Genome Sketches is merely a “book of life,” and to truly understand it and reveal the information represented by all genetic codes, it must also decipher the vast amounts of data. In the famous Sanger Centre in the United Kingdom, the data on the human genome has reached 2.2 billion bytes, which is more than twice the content of the world’s premier library of the United States Congress. According to the Center, the amount of data related to the human genome will increase to 50 trillion to 100 trillion words in the next two to three years.
