日本罔山大学医学部第一内科的研究小组,首次培养成功球状大鼠肝细胞。并利用其组成特殊循环培养装置,开发研制人工肝脏。研究人员将防止细胞在平面粘结的蛋白多糖物质涂在培养基上,从而将大鼠肝细胞培养成球状团块,100~200个肝细胞凝集起来直径为150~200μm。但是,由于这种凝集块彼此粘合即会因氧不足引起死亡。故用多糖体藻酸将其裹住,从而防止了粘合。
