The PowerEdge 6400 Enterprise Server was configured by Dell for the Internet infrastructure and other mission-critical applications that implement eCommerce. Systems available today are available in either 550MHz / 512KB, 550MHz / 1MB or 550 MHz / 2MB processors, allowing users to expand performance at any time based on ever-increasing applications or volatile workloads in e-commerce environments. Dell is not only the first major system manufacturer to sell hard drives with 36GB of storage capacity but one inch in size, and will continue to evolve toward increasing system capacity and density. With up to four Intel Pentium III Xeon processors and 8GB of RAM, the PowerEdge 6400 server enables smooth operation of applications that consume large amounts of memory, such as business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce services, customer relationship management (CRM), electronic support and database applications . Both models will also support Intel’s 700MHz / 1 MB, 700 MHz / 2 MB and 800 MHz / 2 MB Pentium III Xeon processors later this year. The PowerEdge 6400 server incorporates “chipkill” technology that allows the server to continue functioning even if the memory module is damaged, allowing managers to replace failed parts at the right time.
