The features and results of the 5MW THR charge, first critical and control rod leveling test are summarized. The extrapolation methods and practical steps used to ensure safety are introduced. In order to reduce the spatial effect, special measures are used during loading and extrapolation criticality. Experiments show that these methods are effective.
