近几个月来,东亚金融危机和经济衰退已出现缓解势头。目前,一些东亚国家的货币汇率已比一年前反弹5％至30％左右,新加坡海峡时报股票指数已比去年9月高出近60％,泰国和韩国的外汇储备分别增加到290亿美元和522亿美元,马来西亚外汇储备在几个月里增加了约40％,从200亿美元增加到280亿美元。东亚地区外贸也有些好转,进出口均有所增长。
In recent months, East Asia’s financial crisis and recession have eased. At present, the currency exchange rate in some East Asian countries has rebounded 5% to 30% from a year ago. The Singapore Strait Times Index was almost 60% higher than last September. The foreign exchange reserves of Thailand and South Korea increased to 29 billion U.S. dollars. With a total value of 52.2 billion U.S. dollars, Malaysia’s foreign exchange reserves increased by about 40 percent in a few months, from 20 billion U.S. dollars to 28 billion U.S. dollars. Foreign trade in East Asia also improved somewhat, with both imports and exports increasing.
