China Earthquake Administration and the United States Geological Survey on May 14, 1983 in Beijing signed a cooperation agreement on the construction of China’s digital seismic network agreement. According to the agreement, the Taiwan network will consist of nine digital seismic stations in Beijing, Lanzhou, Enshi, Kunming, Qiongzhong, Shanghai, Urumqi, Hailar and Mudanjiang, as well as a network maintenance center and a data management center in Beijing. Over the past few years, with the concerted efforts of both China and the United States, the digital seismic network successfully completed the installation and commissioning of all the equipment in July 1986 and was subsequently put into trial operation. After more than a year of seismic observation and data processing, both China and the United States held a Taiwan network testing and acceptance conference in Beijing from October 21 to October 23, 1987 and held a ceremony marking the completion of the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
