科学技术工作,需要不断地积累各种科技档案,离开了对科技档案的收集、累积和整理,研究工作将会受到很大的影响。我所成立已有十年,在研究考察活动中,形成了很多科技材料,这是国家的一项宝贵财富。但由于过去我们没有建立科技档案工作,因而这些材料长期地分散保存在个人手中,成为私有,给本所的工作带来了不少困难。如去年我所要编辑“十年来的中国地理学”向国庆十周年献礼,就感到材料不足。各个研究室十年来做了些什么,心中无数,更没有成套的材料依据可查考。同时,分散保管不符合国家对档案实行集中统一管理的原则。建立科技档案,已经成了迫不及待的问题。
Scientific and technological work requires constant accumulation of various scientific and technological archives, and the collection, compilation and arrangement of scientific and technological records. The research work will be greatly affected. I have been established for ten years. During the research tour, a lot of scientific and technological materials have been formed, which is a precious asset for the country. However, in the past, we did not set up scientific and technological archives. Therefore, these materials have been kept in the hands of individuals for a long period of time and become privately owned. This has brought many difficulties to our work. Last year, when I wanted to edit “China’s Geography in Ten Years” to present the tenth anniversary of the National Day, I felt that there was not enough material. Each laboratory has done something ten years, countless hearts, but there is no complete set of materials can be based on examination. At the same time, decentralization and custody do not conform to the principle of centralized and unified management of archives by the state. The establishment of science and technology files has become an issue that can not wait.
