Even more terrifying than the flood itself, the 400,000 chemical companies in the Yangtze River Valley may at any time experience secondary disasters such as chemical pollution caused by floods. Since the beginning of summer, under the influence of strong cold and warm air, heavy rainfall continued to occur again in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Rainfall was 1-2 times more frequent than that of the same period of previous years. As a result, an alarm occurred at the water level of 60 stations in 38 rivers of the whole basin. Flood control in the Yangtze River is very grim. However, what is more scarier than the flood itself at this moment is the 400,000 chemical enterprises in the Yangtze River basin. Secondary disasters such as chemical pollution caused by flooding may occur at any time, resulting in “secondary floods.” Linjiang industrial layout and therefore have to once again become the focus of public attention.
