最隆重的杂技盛会1987年10月25日至11月1日第一届中国吴桥国际杂技艺术节在河北石家庄举行。前苏联、朝鲜、法国、墨西哥、澳大利亚、前民主德国和中国等7个国家的30个节目参加了比赛和演出。评选了金狮纪念奖8个、金狮奖5个、银狮奖17个。随着杂技节的持续举办,参赛国家逐届递增,现在已增加到16个国家和地区,国外参赛节目数量也由第一届的8个到现在的20多个,国外参赛节目的比例达到90%。“中国吴桥国际杂技艺术节”素有“东方杂技赛场”的美称,其与摩纳哥“蒙特卡洛国际马戏节”和法国“国际明日杂技节”一起被世人称为世界杂技三大赛场。
