每次说到上海京剧院,我眼前就会浮现出“麒老牌”扮演的那些脍炙人口、光彩照人的舞台形象:文天祥、史可法、萧何、宋江、徐策、寇准、海瑞……他们铁肩担道义,丹心对青史,都有一种在历史的重压之下爆发出苍凉风骨的生命力度,都会在自己人生最严峻的时刻昂首挺胸、向天而歌。这些年来,因为工作关系,我和上海京剧院有了很多零距离亲密接触的机会。我一直在苦苦追寻着能概括而明确地表达“上京”的一个意象。我想,最合适的意象莫过于这“向天而歌”了。向天而歌,是一种姿态,一种奋起,一种生生不息的生命力。一个著名的艺术表演团体必须有自己的灵魂。剧院的灵魂就是它的文化立场和文化精神。有文化立场的剧院就神定气足、掷地有金石之声,就能经得起风吹浪打,就能始终以自己尽可能完美的艺术创造征服观众,就能始终如一、表里如一。

I’ve been struggling to find an image that expresses “Beijing” in a clear and concise manner. I think the most appropriate image is this “song to heaven”. To the sky and song, is a gesture, a rise, a kind of endless vitality. A famous performing arts group must have its own soul. The soul of the theater is its cultural position and cultural spirit. A theater with a cultural stance will be consistent and a one-size-fits-all with a determined atmosphere, a golden touch of stone, and the ability to withstand the wind and waves and to always conquer the audience with the art that is as perfect as possible.
