新化一中于一八九八年创办,至今已有八十四年历史,留下不少的珍贵资料,但由于无人管理,丢失多,毁坏多,虫蛀霉变严重,没有充分发挥它的作用。一九八一年十月起,学校把建档工作作为学校一项主要的基本建设来抓,在县文教局和档案局的具体指导下,经过半年的努力,已全部整理装订好八十三年来积存的档案资料四百二十七卷(其中永久三百二十八卷,长期七十八卷,短期二十一卷),同时编制了学校历年概况汇总表,建立了管理、保密、借阅审批等各种制度。
