Endogenous opioid peptides are proteins produced by the body that have some degree of opiate or morphine activity and are vasoactive mediators of endotoxemia in the body. This experiment aimed to investigate the relationship between β-endorphin and hemodynamics in septic shock. The Suffolk or Merino sheep were anesthetized and the Swan-Ganz catheter was inserted into the pulmonary artery under the femoral vein or external jugular vein. The left thoracotomy was performed. The silicone tube was inserted into the left atrium and connected to the monitor to measure pulmonary artery pressure and left atrial pressure. Femoral artery catheterization into the abdominal aorta or external carotid artery catheterization
