地球日由美国参议员盖洛德·尼尔森于1970年设立,旨在唤起美国民众对环境的重视。这个节日设于4月22日,因为这一天是官方认可的北半球的春天起始日和南半球的秋天起始日。经过40年的发展,地球日已成了一个全球性的节日,许多国家每年都会庆祝。据地球日网估测,现在每年都有来自180个国家的约五千万人庆祝这个节日,这项环保运动的发展可谓如火如荼。可谁曾想这项运动的发起并不像我们想象的那么一帆风顺。值此地球日40周年庆祝之际,让我们一起来回顾40年前首届地球日的发起!
Earth Day by the United States Senator Gaylord Nelson was established in 1970, designed to evoke the American public’s attention to the environment. The festival is set to take place on April 22 because it is officially recognized as the beginning of the spring in the northern hemisphere and the autumn beginning of the southern hemisphere. After 40 years of development, Earth Day has become a global festival, and many countries celebrate each year. According to Earth Day estimates, about 50 million people from 180 countries now celebrate the festival every year. The development of the environmental protection movement is in full swing. Who ever thought the launch of the sport was not as easy as we thought. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary celebration of Earth Day, let’s review the launch of the first Earth Day 40 years ago!
