许昌地区地处河南中部,属于淮河流域沙颍河水系,现辖11个县市,总面积约8106平方公里,其中东部平原占81％,是河南粮、烟主要产区之一。近年来由于井灌的发展(全区已打机井7万余眼),大量提取地下水,造成开采最超过补给量,出现了地下水位普遍下降的现象。这是一个值得重视和研究的问题。
