編輯同志: 这一学期我們讀了人民教育出版社出版的苏联师范学校課本“算术”。这本書的翻譯工作很不能使人滿意。显然翻譯者在翻譯本書时沒有动一点腦筋,只是按着外国語法和文字一成不变地翻譯出来了。这样一来就在原书和讀者之间造成了人为的障碍。其实只要翻譯者稍微动点脑筋,就可以翻得让我们读懂的。如:“分数的值不变,如果它的分子及分母都给同一的非零的数来乘或除的話。”要是说成:“分数的分子和分母同时被一个不是零的数来乘或除,它的值不变”不行嗎?又如:“把一个数分解做質因数就是求出积是給与的数的所有的質数。”也是可以用中国化的較簡明的句子来翻譯的。但是翻譯的人却偏偏不这样作!
Editorial comrades: This semester we read People’s Education Publishing House published Soviet normal school textbooks “arithmetic.” The book’s translation is unsatisfactory. Obviously the translator did not move his mind when translating the book, but translated it according to the foreign grammar and the text. This creates an artificial barrier between the original book and the reader. In fact, as long as the translator a little bit of their brains, we can turn over let us read. But the translator has chosen not to do so!
