中籼淮稻1号,经过三年示范试种和两年全省中籼稻联合区域试验,一致证明具有熟期适中,株型紧凑,耐肥抗倒,分蘖力强,成穗率、结实率高,米质较好等优点,是中籼稻中较理想的新品种.1979年,淮稻1号在淮阴、淮安、沭阳、涟水、清江等6个县市示范试种,面积138亩,平均单产1066.7斤.1980年淮阴地区试种1万亩,其中有1000亩单产过千斤,250亩单产超过1100斤.1981年全区种植面积达20万亩,无论是淮南淮北、春茬麦茬、肥力水平较高或偏低,都表现高产稳产.据泗阳、宿迁、泗洪、金湖等县10个点统计,淮稻1号
