The U.S. Air Force announced its request for a comprehensive qualification and in-depth development of a large Lidar as a guidance system for a variety of surface applications. Lidar is similar to normal radar, but the laser beam is transmitted and received. The advantage of laser radar is that it does not emit electrical signals that can leak the position of the missile launch platform. The main purpose of this program is to develop the technical basis to be applied to the low-cost end-lid laser guidance system and, secondly, to guide the technology in development support.
