汽车作为商品以及汽车制造作为一个工业部门大约“诞生”于100年前。它们的第二次诞生则发生在第一次世界大战前夕的美国,由福特工厂引用流水生产线而成。在这以后很快由于福特汽车的批量生产,一般中等收入的美国人已有能力拥有它,到1925年有一半的美国家庭购置了汽车。虽然德国和法国最先发展了汽车制造业,但是长时期以来在欧洲汽车只是奢侈品,汽车公司遵循的仍是旧的生产原则。直到二次世界大战以前西欧各国狭窄的市场范围阻碍着汽车的批量生产。汽车工业在经济中没有占据重要的位置。按生产指标它大大落后于冶金、煤炭、纺织等老生产部门。
Cars were manufactured as goods and as an industrial unit about “born” 100 years ago. Their second birth took place in the United States on the eve of World War I, a reference to the assembly line from the Ford plant. After that, soon after the mass production of the Ford Motor Company, the average middle-income American already had the ability to own it, and by 1925 half of American families had bought the car. Although Germany and France pioneered the automobile manufacturing sector first, cars have been a luxury in Europe for a long time and car companies are following the old rules of production. Until the Second World War, the narrow market range of Western European countries hindered the mass production of vehicles. The automotive industry does not occupy an important place in the economy. According to the production index, it lags far behind the old production departments such as metallurgy, coal and textile.
