本文通过分析汉语公示语的中国特色,指出在语言形式上,汉语公示语常具有结构对称的特征;在语气上,汉语公示语常具有表达直白、不够人性化的特点;从文化上而言,汉语公示语往往涉及中国社会特有的政治制度、道德规范、礼仪习俗、社会现象,等等。作者通过分析大量实例指出:汉语公示语英译中出现的不少问题,是由于译者缺乏对英语公示语语言特点的掌握、过分拘泥于原文的语言形式与信息内容所致。作者以为,公示语翻译质量的提高,有待于译者自身素质的提高与社会相关部门的共同努力。公示语的翻译,应以满足译文读者的信息需求与心理需要为目的,侧重于译文信息与感召功能的实现。
By analyzing the Chinese characteristics of Chinese public signs, this paper points out that Chinese public signs often have the characteristics of structural symmetry in the form of language. In terms of tone, Chinese public signs are often characterized by straightforwardness and lack of humanization. From a cultural point of view, , Chinese publicity often involves the unique political system of Chinese society, ethics, rituals, social phenomena, and so on. By analyzing a large number of examples, the author points out that many problems that arise in the English translation of Chinese public signs are due to the lack of mastery of the linguistic features of the English public signs and the excessively rigid adherence to the original language forms and contents. The author believes that the improvement of the quality of public signs translation needs to be improved by the translators themselves and the joint efforts of relevant social departments. The translation of public signs should aim at meeting the information needs and psychological needs of the target readers, focusing on the realization of the translation information and the calling function.
