An optical fiber coupler is presented which has 16 inputs and an output which are made by a method of fiber fusion and taper. With an average coupling efficiency of 93.7% and an average insertion loss of 2.84 dB, the coupler can be used to pump double-clad all-fiber lasers with output powers of ten-watts.
