The liver plays an essential role in maintaining the biological balance of the body. Most of the liver function is borne by hepatocytes, which account for about 70% of all cells in the liver. Changes in liver cells due to various causes can lead to acute and chronic dysfunctions, which can be fatal (Figure 1).
