Objective To analyze the levels of Th1 and Th2 cells in patients with multiple myeloma at different stages of the disease and their clinical significance. Methods The levels of IFN-γ and IL-4 in 36 patients with multiple myeloma were detected by flow cytometry. Results The average Th1 / Th2 ratio in the newly diagnosed and refractory patients was significantly higher than that in the control group. The level of β2-microglobulin in the high Th1 / Th2 group was significantly higher than that in the normal Th1 / Th group. Conclusion The high Th1 / Th2 ratio may indicate the poor prognosis of multiple myeloma.
