1950年1月1日,北京人民艺术剧院在北京成立。该剧院是一所以创作和演出歌剧、话剧、舞剧、音乐舞蹈节目为主的综合性国家剧院。4月,中央戏剧学院建院,本科设歌剧系专业。10月1日,歌剧《王贵与李香香》(五幕)由北京人民艺术剧院在北京剧场首演。该歌剧由于村根据李季同名长诗改编,作曲:梁寒光,配器:汤方正,指挥:李德伦、卓明理,主演:于村、方晓天,经典唱段:《王贵是个好后生》等。11月19日,歌剧《王贵与李香香》座谈会在中央音乐学院召开。
January 1, 1950, Beijing People’s Art Theater was established in Beijing.
