苏锵,生于1931年7月15日,广东广州人。中科院院士(1995当选),研究员,博士生导师,1999年受聘为中山大学教授。稀土材料与化学专家,教授(研究员),全国政协委员,院士。第二届国际稀土光谱讨论会主席,第三届国际 f 元素会议国际科学委员会委员,稀土学会发光专业委员会主任。2000院士科普丛书系列中,著有《稀土元素——您身边的大家族》一书。目前主要从事稀土发光材料的研究,特别是长余辉夜光材
